Site Mission: To champion the connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life.
Job Duties: Volunteer will have lunch with a child once a week. Quality time in this one-on-one relationship will help students in many areas that affect life at home and school. By offering friendship, guidance and a positive perspective a mentor clearly shows that someone cares.

Clerical

Clerical Assistant

Site Location: Sedgwick County Health Department’s Center for Health Equity
Site Mission: To examine and advance the understanding of disparities in health risks, health status, treatments, and survival among the diverse groups of Sedgwick County residents.
Job Duties: Responsibilities shall include, but shall not be limited to updating filing system, organizing, follow-up calls to Navigators to track hours of participation, follow-up calls to citizens to assess usefulness of the Health Care Educational packets, and helping to assemble and dispense Health Care Educational Packets.

Job Duties: Volunteer will check in moms using a computer to verify that they are a Treehouse client, answer the telephone and take messages, assist with miscellaneous office work

Site Mission: Provide support and a comforting environment for grieving children and their families. We provide support groups for children between the ages of 3 and 18, and their adults caregivers.
Job Duties: Clip words from magazines to be used in memory box and mask projects, straighten supplies in the supply room and group room closets; assemble packets, assemble "farewell pouch", make masks using face foam and paper strips, straighten the library, and other activities as needed

Host/Hostess

RSVP Agency Liaison

Site Location: Sedgwick County Department on Aging
Site Mission:
Job Duties: Volunteer will work closely with the RSVP coordinator to arrange for projects from non-profit agencies that are to be completed by RSVP workroom and home volunteers. Volunteer will also work closely with other workroom and home RSVP volunteers. Duties may include the delivery and pick up of project materials from agencies, and home volunteers; maintain and establish good relationships with RSVP partner agencies, and act as a representative of the RSVP Volunteer program.

Computer

Retirement Coach

Site Location: Central Plains Area Agency on Aging
Site Mission: To be the recognized leader in a collaborative effort towards assisting diverse populations of older adults and persons with disabilities to maintain their choice of lifestyle through education, advocacy, and services.
Job Duties: Volunteer will educate clients of the choices available through Medicare, long term care, and other retirement issues. Volunteer may provide one on one counseling of Medicare Part D, Supplemental insurance, or Medicare Advantage Plans. Volunteers will provide clients information and education on how to use the Medicare website, use the Medicare Plan Finder, or My Medicare. Issues relating to healthcare are currently important topics in this region and across the country. Volunteers will be able to impact their community by helping their peers and caregivers overcome the stress and anxiety of not understanding Medicare and retirement related issues.
Qualifications/
Trainings Required:
Volunteer will be required to attend a three day Medicare training. Good written and verbal communication skills, experience working with people, and the ability to learn and work with health insurance.
Time Commitment: August 2009-March 2010, time commitment varies according to volunteer schedule

Computer Lab Instructor

Blood Collection Volunteer

Site Mission:
Job Duties: Donor Receptionist: Provide a warm friendly greeting to all donors. Instruct and make donor comfortable in registration process. Donor Escort: Be alert for signs that the donor is not feeling well while escorting donor to the canteen area and to call for staff assistance. Assist staff in making donors comfortable during the donation process which includes appropriate conversation. Canteen Aid: Be alert for signs that a donor is not feeling well and to call for staff assistance. Offer refreshments using proper technique in handling and preparing food. Set up and maintain cleanliness in canteen area. Offer appropriate instructions and conversation. Express appreciation for donating and encourage the person to donate regularly.

Trainings Required:
Ability to meet and greet variety of people in a friendly manner and courteous manner. Ability to maintain confidentiality in a professional manner, ability to work cooperatively with staff and other volunteers. Ability to meet the physical demands of the positions for the length of the shift. On-going training to meet procedural changes.

Blood Services Transport Driver

Site Location: American Red Cross
