CPAAA's Role
As an Area Agency on Aging, CPAAA is mandated to advocate for older adults in the community and current and future policies impacting seniors, be the leader in the aging field that work with the network of providers to offer services that meet the needs of the community, and plan for current and future needs.
These are mandates by the Older Americans Act which provides funding for Area Agencies on Aging accross the country.
Older Americans Act from 1990 Revision
“AAA shall serve as the advocate and focal point for older individuals within the community (in cooperation with agencies, organizations and individuals) to monitor, evaluate and comment on all policies, programs, hearings, levies and community actions which will affect older individuals.”
