Working Caregiver Program Benefits Employees and Employers

Eighty percent of all care provided to older adults in our counties is provided by family members.  Forty-seven percent of these caregivers are employed outside the home.  Today American businesses lose $11-29 billion each year due to caregiving issues.  Replacing employees who quit, worday interruuptions, dealing with elder care crises, absenteeism, increased health and mental health costs due to stress and leave of absences all contriubt to financial loss.  By offering the Working Caregiver Program to employers, CPAAA can provide assistance and support to employees and costs for employers can be lowered and productivity will be increased.  To find resource information for caregivers, including working caregivers visit the Resources page for helpful links and publications.
