Attention Community Educators, Hospital Education Coordinators, Trainers, Nursing Home/Assisted Living Administrators, Nurses, Physical Therapists, Area Agency on Aging, and other professionals:

Central Plains Area Agency on Aging became the first licensed agency in South Central and Western Kansas to offer “A Matter of Balance” coaches training.  This program is an evidence-based program which was developed at Boston University’s Research Institute in 1995.  CPAAA‘s Master Trainer will train professionals to become certified AMOB coaches.  Obtaining the coaches certification gives your healthcare organization, agency or company an opportunity to be one of the first facilities in South Central and Western Kansas to provide an award winning fall prevention class to senior clients.

In 2009 2.2 million nonfatal fall injuries among older adults were treated in emergency departments and more than 581,000 of these patients were hospitalized.   Your company can impact seniors’ risk for falls by offering AMOB.

Following completion of certification in AMOB  your company/agency will be required to provide at one class a year or more if desired to remain certified.  Two trained coaches must provide the class.

AMOB Offers Benefits to Seniors and Your Company

• Reduce client’s risk of falls and decrease readmission rates to hospitals

• Your company will receive the tools needed to provide this class to senior clients

• Increase the probability that your senior clients will remain in community living longer

• Emphasizes practical strategies to reduce fear of falling

• Participants learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable
